About

I'm Glenn D. Woodrome, a fantasy and science fiction illustrator specializing in story-driven illustration art for publishing, comics, and entertainment. Based in New Mexico, I've been creating professional artwork since 2006, working with authors, publishers, businesses, conventions, and private collectors. My work is driven by a passion for visual storytelling, crafting illustrations that immerse viewers in imaginative worlds and capture the spirit of adventure, mystery, and discovery.

Working in both traditional and digital media, I create highly detailed illustrations that combine expressive characters, thoughtful composition, and a cinematic sense of atmosphere. Whether illustrating a novel cover, comics, character design, or epic fantasy, my goal is always the same: to create artwork that not only captures attention but also tells a compelling story and leaves a lasting impression.

My artistic career began in graphic design, creating logos and branding for small businesses before evolving into illustration and fine art. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of creative projects, including book covers, children's books, comics, event posters, convention badge artwork, murals, portraits, and commissioned illustrations for businesses and private clients. This breadth of experience has strengthened my ability to adapt my artistic style while maintaining a consistent commitment to craftsmanship and storytelling.

Among my published work are illustrations for Juicy John: A Tale by Grandpa Squirrel by Santiago Aceves, along with numerous illustrations created for multiple Common Sense self-help and marketing books by the late Tom Burns. My artwork has also been selected for use in the upcoming feature film The Medium (2027). Additional clients have included Albuquerque Comic Con and Moriarty Comic Con, where I've created promotional artwork, event materials, and convention-related illustrations.

Although I work comfortably with modern digital tools, my artistic foundation is firmly rooted in traditional illustration. I regularly work with pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylic, and gouache, combining the timeless craftsmanship of traditional media with the flexibility of digital techniques. Every illustration begins with careful drawing, thoughtful design, and a dedication to producing artwork that is both visually striking and emotionally engaging.

As a lifelong student of illustration, I continue to refine my craft through independent study and by learning from many of the great illustrators who have shaped the field. I believe the most memorable illustrations do more than depict a scene, they create atmosphere, evoke emotion, and encourage the viewer to imagine the story beyond the image.

In an era when generative AI imagery has become increasingly common, I remain committed to creating artwork through traditional artistic skill, imagination, and years of dedicated practice. Every illustration in my portfolio is personally conceived, drawn, and painted by hand or digitally illustrated by me. I believe originality, craftsmanship, and authentic visual storytelling remain at the heart of meaningful illustration. #artbyhumans #noai

Today, I exhibit my work at comic conventions, art festivals, and gallery events throughout the Southwest while continuing to pursue freelance opportunities with publishers, authors, entertainment companies, game developers, and private collectors. I am especially interested in creating cover illustrations for fantasy and science fiction novels, comics, tabletop games, and other narrative-driven projects where compelling artwork helps bring extraordinary stories to life.

I am available for freelance commissions including book cover illustration, interior book illustration, novels, comics, graphic novels, trading card games, tabletop games, video games, concept art, character design, publishing, and other narrative illustration projects.

If you're looking for an illustrator who values craftsmanship, collaboration, and visual storytelling, I'd love to hear about your next project.
